Latest News... July 9, 2007 - Third grade! Yes, Maddy is now in third grade!!! June 30, 2007 - Maddy performs in her fourth dance recital. She has three performances and is great in all of them. She does an especially good job in ballet. She also gets promoted to a ballet 2 class. December 20, 2006 - Maddy has two ski lessons this week while staying up in Big Bear. Apparently she is becoming quite the skier December 15, 2006 - Winter dance recital. Maddy had three dances and was the helper for two other classes! September 18, 2006 - Maddy started Brownies today. September 14, 2006 - Maddy tried out for a dancing part in the Nutcracker at school and got a dancing part in the chorus. August 19, 2006 - Camp month for Maddy. She went to Camp James for a week near Wild Rivers in Irvine. Then she went to a mad scientist camp the following week in Corona. She liked the science camp better! July 10, 2006 - First day of second grade. Maddy was a little nervous to start, but when she came she said it was easy-peasy! July 7, 2006 - Maddy starts her new round of dance classes. This season she is taking ballet, tap, jazz and jumps and turns. June 23, 2006 - Last day of first grade for Maddy. Maddy performed in her first of three shows in this year's dance recital. June 21, 2006 - Maddy lost her fourth tooth today. All four on the bottom our now gone. May 11, 2006 - Six year check up. Maddy is 47 inches tall and about 41 pounds. Officially she doesn't need a car seat anymore. Maddy also had her open house for her first grade classroom. She was very excited, and she showed Mom and Dad all of her school work around the classroom. She also should us where she eats lunch and what she does at recess. April 16, 2006 - Six years old! Maddy wanted and received clothes, My Little Pony and Barbie Compact. Also Maddy got an MP3 player to replace her CD player, entering the digital music age. March 9, 2006 - Maddy is now spending the whole day in first grade, 7:45 to 2 PM. She is doing well, but is a little tired after her first couple of days. She has her first field trip to see Curious George the play on the 16th. February11, 2006 - We journeyed up to Big Bear, and despite the warm temperatures, there was enough man-made snow for Maddy to take another ski lesson. After a half-day refresher, she was up on the chair lifts with her instructers skiing down the hill! Then she went up the bigger chair lift with Uncle Joe to ski down even more of the mountain! January 12, 2006 - Maddy started back to school after her six week break of being off-track. She is now in a first grade class for the first two hours of her day for language arts and then returns to her K-class for the last hour. She is doing well and enjoying the first grade class! January 3, 2006 - Second tooth came out, both bottom center teeth now are missing, the perfect hole for a straw according to Maddy. December 25, 2005 - Maddy lost her first tooth today, Christmas at Grandma Taylor's house. The tooth fairy came by that night and left her three dollars, apparently the going rate. December 22, 2005 - Maddy is now almost 46 inches tall and weighs in at 39 pounds. December 10, 2005 - This was a busy week for Maddy. She marched with other girl scouts in the Norco Holiday Parade. She had three dance performances, hip-hop, ballet and tap. She also had her first slumber-birthday party. October 19, 2005 - Our first parent-teacher conference. Maddy is doing very well in school according to her teacher, Mrs. McLinn. It was a good experience to see all the work she has been doing in kindergarten. Sept 20, 2005 - Maddy tested for her reading between a first and second grade level. She was very excited and goes twice a week now to pick out books and then gets tested on reading comprehension. Sept 13, 2005 - Maddy joined the girl scouts tonight. She starts in a new troop as a Daisy scout. Sept 12, 2005 - Maddy was tested for the reading program in school. She has already learned her kindergarten words and her first fifty first grade words. She tested in at almost second grade level. She is very excited about going to the school library twice a week to pick out books to read. July 5, 2005 - First day of kindergarten for Maddy. We walked her to school with her sister and brother in tow. Maddy enjoyed her first day. Her teacher is named Mrs. McLinn. June 25, 2005 - Maddy was awesome at her second ballet recital. She received flowers and we took her out to dinner with her grandparents afterwards. April 16, 2005 - Fifth birthday party! Maddy has a Create a Bear party at the house. She has 12 friends from the neighborhood attend. Everyone got to build their own stuffed animal at the party. April 12, 2005 - First full cleaning by the dentist. Maddy gets a free toothbrush and is told it is time to start brushing her teeth twice a day. No cavities! March 9, 2005 - Maddy continues to make progress in her reading. She can read several starter books now and is improving with her ability to sound out words. She like spelling out words she knows in the store. She is beginning to understand subtraction now and has improved in writing her letters. She likes to write short notes to her friends. She is very excited about going to school in July and talks about it constantly. She joined the new ballet class of 4 and 5 year olds and is doing well and still enjoys it. January 23, 2005 - First ski lesson! Maddy loved her first all day ski camp at Bear Mountain in Big Bear. Resourceful Uncle Joe got Maddy a great deal so she could spend two hours in the morning taking lessons, followed by two hours of lunch and rest, followed by two hours of more skiing. We watched in the morning and then the afternoon and Maddy was actually skiing by the end of the day! She also said she liked it and would go again. Snow bunny in the making! December 20, 2004 - Maddy weighs in at 37 pounds and is almost 43 inches tall, according to our unofficial measurements. December 5, 2004 - Ballet winter recital. Maddy did very well and will probably move up next year into a 4 to 5 age group for tap and ballet. October 12, 2004 - Maddy is back in a new ballet and tap class. She is reading her starter books and doing quite well. We read almost every night before bed. She is practicing her handwriting at daycare and can now add any two single digit nubmers together! July 31, 2004 - While vacationing in Colorado, Maddy discovers she loves driving, with dad of course, four wheel ATVs. Now she wants one when we go camping! June 25, 2004 - Maddy has her first ballet recital. She did very well and followed the instructor on stage. She said she enjoyed being on stage and wearing the beautiful ballet custome. April 22, 2004 - Doctor's appointment with little sister. Maddy weighs 34 pounds and is 42 inches tall, that means bigger rides at Disneyland! Her vision measured 20-30 which is apparently normal for kids her age. April 17, 2004 - Maddy had her birthday party at Castle Park and had 15 of her friends join her. It rained all day, so they couldn't ride on the outside rides. But the kids still had fun with pizza, cake, presents and the arcade. A few stayed late and got to see the magician on stage! April 16, 2004 - Dad played hooky from work to spend the day with Maddy. We went to Carl's Jr. for breakfast, because you must have french toast dips on your b-day. Next was dance class, an every Friday morning event. Then we went to Ontario Mills where we had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe and watched all the animals and thunder storms. After lunch it was time to go to GameWorks to play games and win tickets. Maddy won over 300 tickets in a little over an hour. She had a lot of fun picking out her prizes which included a fan, a bouncy ball, some candy and other toys. Next was the movies, Ella Enchanted was the flik of the day. Maddy loved the movie and had a smile on her face virtually the whole time. After the movie it was time to go home, and Maddy fell asleep shortly after we got on the freeway! March 30, 2004 - Reading and spelling have become interesting to Maddy. She is learning to write her letters and spell three letter words now. We are also reading to her a lot more than the usual as she wants to be able to read. March 23, 2004 - Maddy can swing herself now on the swing, relieving dad of some duties! February 13, 2004 - Started a new tap and ballet class on Friday mornings. Maddy loves getting dressed up like a dancer and dancing with the other girls. January 25, 2004 - Maddy got to play in the snow this weekend with the family in Big Bear. She enjoyed walking around in the snow with her new snow clothes. She made snow angels, threw snow balls and went sledding down snowy hillls. January 4, 2004 - This weekend Maddy wanted to play with her friends and not daddy and mommy. So she had to muster the courage to go knock on neighbor's doors to ask if her friends could come out and play. Both Saturday and Sunday she went searching for friends to play with and learned how to be a little independent. December 13, 2003 - Maddy was in her first musical production. It was a holiday program put on by our church. She danced and sang and looked very cute! Maddy took her first ride on Star Tours at Disneyland. She thought it was great! November 24, 2003 - Maddy's current favorite song is Get This Party Started by Pink. She sings it over and over in the car, it is very cute to hear her do this, also she gives performances if you are lucky! October 31, 2003 - Madelyne dressed up as Ariel, the Little Mermaid. Mom helped to temporarily color her hair red. Maddy went trick-or-treating with her little sister for a bit and also with her neighbor friends Emma and Carly. October 10, 2003 - Madelyne was finally measured at 40 inches tall, so she got to ride Soaring over California at Disney's California Adventure. She loved it and was very excited to go on a big person's ride! She also rode on Matterhorn that same day. September 28, 2003 - First weekend trip for Maddy without parents and without any relatives. She had lots of fun without us, but we missed her! September 18, 2003 - Maddy is only one-half inch from riding on some of the bigger rides at Disneyland, off to the shoe store! September 7, 2003 - Maddy learned how to ride her bike today. She was able to pedal by herself without anyone pushing her. She pedaled up and down the street for what seemed like hours. She kept shouting I can do it, I can do it! August 26, 2003 - This morning Brandy sent Maddy downstairs to see if I was still in the house because there was a light on downstairs. She heard Maddy go downstairs calling for Daddy, shortly followed by the opening and closing of the door to the garage. After a few minutes passed and Brandy had not heard the garage door reopen, she went down to see what happened. Brandy went the garage and saw that the side man door to the back yard was open. Brandy went outside to find Maddy, in her nightgown, walking through the grass calling for Daddy! Brandy had to explain that if Daddy wasn't in the house or the garage or outback, that he'd probably gone to work. Now that is dedication on Maddy's part! August 4, 2003 - Maddy had her first friend over for dinner. She was very excited to entertain and play with her friend, here in her house! It was very cute. July 22, 2003 - She can jump! Maddy can finally jump and get both feet off the ground at the same time. We are very excited as this has eluded Maddy 'til now. June 16, 2003 - Maddy spelled the word 'who' for us over the weekend. Apparently she has been listening in on reading classes at daycare. So now she is starting beginning reading books! Also Maddy planted 24 pumpkin seeds for her pumpkin patch. May 16, 2003 - A little late 3 year check up, everything is fine! She is 38.5 inches tall and if finally officially 30 pounds! April 13, 2003 - Maddy really enjoyed her birthday party! January 22, 2003 - Maddy went to her first ballet class. She was very excited to go to her dance class. She had fun the full 45 minues! This night was also her first night without diapers and no accidents! October 30, 2002 - The dreaded "why" questions has finally appeared. News happens so fast now, it is now just impossible to keep up. We'll bring you updates when we can! July 18 - Maddy goes to the library each week now and picks out three books. July 4 - Fireworks are too loud, she watches from under the safety of her blanket. June 7 - The crib is taken down in Maddy's room. Maddy 22 - First Dentist trip, everything checks out okay. May 10 - First full night sleeping in the bed. May 4 - Maddy gets a real bed delivered for her room. April 18 - First successful attempt at going potty. April 2 - Likes to say,"Mon Daddy, mon Mommy". Mon is short for "come on." March 25 - Learning the alphabet, says short sentences and sometimes can count to 10! March 17 - Road the kiddie roller coaster and loved it!(Dad liked it too!) March 2 - Can count to 5 most of the time! March 1 - Ears pierced! February 27 - Fond of saying "Mommy get". February 14 - Enjoyed Valentine's day, especially the M&Ms. January 18 - Maddy weighed in at 25 pounds and 33.5 inches tall at her 21 month check-up. January 6 - Currently repeating every word you say and watching Shrek twice daily. December 29, 2001 - Discovered digging in the backyard dirt can be lots of fun. December 25 - She really enjoyed opening gifts, tearing off wrapping paper is fun! December 22 - Took the move fine, is enjoying screaming in the vaulted livingroom ceiling. November 30 - Enjoyed helping pick out the Christmas tree. November 17 - Maddy love to pretend talk on the phone. November 8 - New favorite words are 'off' and 'outside'. October 31 - Went trick-or-treating as Minnie Mouse. October 14 - Walking all over the place. October 10 - Actually walked 6 or 7 steps from a toy to a table! October 4 - Took her first two steps(officially). September 16 - Can now make her way down the stairs(supervised of course). August 30 - More teeth coming in! August 19 - Cruising around furniture and people with ease. August 6 - Starts her new day care. August 3 - Maddy stood by herself with nothing to hold onto, I think she was as amazed as dad was. July 27 - Still waiting for dad to fix her pool! July 20 - Maddy's 15 month check up, all is well. 30 7/8 inches tall and 20.5 pounds - amazing, because she eats all the time! July 17 - Loves to 'walk' with someone holding her hands. July 2 - Walking with her push cart. June 27 - Pulled herself to a standing position on a chair. June 26 - Pulled herself to a standing position in her little pool! June 17 - Maddy didn't really like the baby gate that was installed. June 3 - Maddy has four back teeth now for a total of 12! May 23 - Very busy discovering new places in the house, now that she can crawl. May 21 - Crawling becomes a reality. May 14 - Maddy is now responding to questions with nods of yes or no. May 1 - Loves to pull herself up on her knees. April 21 - Has a great time at her one year birthday bash! April 16 - One year birthday! March 28 - Maddy pulls herself across the floor, it's not quite crawling, but she is more mobile now! March 19 - Still not crawling, but very interested in pulling herself up on the couch. March 3 - Madelyne can now use a smaller sipper cup. February 20 - Maddy is getting pretty good at using her sipper cup, but she is using it upside down! February 14 - Dad gets his first Valentine from Madelyne. February 9 - Teeth 7 and 8 pop through, surprising us! January 30 - Maddy is beginning to use her spoon for the occasional bite of food.. January 24 - Teeth 5 and 6 pop through. January 18, 2001 - Madelyne weighs in at 17.5 pounds and is 29.75 inches. December 24, 2000 - Said dada to Erik pretty convincingly. December 10 - No crawling, but Madelyne can turn herself around on the floor. December 5 - First picture with Santa Claus. November 23 - First mashed potatoes. November 8 - Saying mama in her crib in the morning when she wants to get up. November 5 - Enjoying pieces of bread and Club crackers now. October 31 - Maddy dresses up as a princess and does a short route for trick-or-treating. October 22 - Madelyne gets to visit the San Diego Wild Animal Park, she loves the petting zoo. October 19 - Maddy weighs in at 15.8 pounds and 27.75 inches long. October 14 - Madelyne enjoys rolling across the living room. September 27 - Mommy and daddy find a babysitter so they can go to dinner on their 3 year anniversary. September 14 - Making rasberry sounds is Maddy's newest past time. September 10 - Madelyne's first two bottom teeth break thorugh! August 25 - Madelyne not to fond of carrots, but peas are okay. August 17 - Madelyne has her 4 month check up. She is 26.125 inches long and 13.5 pounds. August 16 - Four months old today. August 6 - Madelyne gets her first cold. July 29 - Madelyne turns over on her left side, but she is kind of unsure what to do after that. July 14 - Maddy measures a little over 25 inches and weighs almost 12 pounds. July 1 - First boat ride on Big Bear Lake. June 29 - Grasping things now! June 27 - First little laughs. June 21 - Maddy turns herself on her side, almost getting over to her stomach. June 16 - Two months old today! Also the doctor weighs her in at 11 pounds and 23.75 inches. June 12 - Madelyne has been sleeping for 6 to 7 hours a night for a week straight. June 4 - First time for Madelyne to sleep in her crib overnight. May 20 - Madelyne sleeps through the night for the first time. May 18 - The doctor measures Madelyne at 22.75 inches and whopping 9 lbs 14 oz. May 14 - Madelyne gave mom her first Mother's Day card. May 6 - Sherril and Dean babysit, while we go see our first movie in two months! May 1 - Madelyne weighed in at a healthy 8 pounds and 9 ounces at the doctor's office.

Birth Facts Born at South Coast Medical Center in Laguna Beach. Madelyne was 8 pounds, 8 ounces and 22 inches at birth.
